Supporting EOSC-Pillar online workshops

In the beginning of July 2021, NI4OS-Europe was actively engaged in two online workshops coordinated by the EOSC-Pillar project. The first one entitled “Business Model Workshop” was held on the 1st of July.

The main objective of the workshop was to discuss current practices in business models. The agenda included the following four topics covering open data portals, research and e-infrastructures, digital infrastructures, etc. (funding, procurement strategies, service procurement, data access policy):

  • Topic 1: Current practices, gaps and barriers in funding / revenue models
  • Topic 2: Policy, legal frameworks & data access conditions;
  • Topic 3: Services procurement strategies;
  • Topic 4: Roadmaps and strategies of funding bodies.

Eleni Toli (Athena RC) represented NI4OS-Europe during the discussion and the Q&A session.

The second one entitled “Incorporating National and Thematic Service and Resource Catalogues into the EOSC” was held on the 5th of July.

Aim of this workshop was to bring all the key projects with national or thematic catalogues together with the operators and developers of the EOSC Portal in order to converge all parallel discussions currently ongoing and produce a definitive roadmap of key milestones to ensure that services or resources onboarded in national or thematic catalogues are smoothly included into the EOSC Catalogue and vice versa.

The initial NI4OS-Europe presentation was made by Dusan Vudragovic (Belgrade Institute of Physics). During the discussion about milestones and timeline Anastas Mishev (UKIM) and Kostas Koumantaros (GRNET) also contributed on behalf of NI4OS-Europe. In the technical break-out session, NI4OS-Europe was represented by Konstantinos Evangelou (GRNET).

Apart from EOSC-Pillar and NI4OS-Europe, EOSC Future, EOSC Enhance, EOSC Nordic and EOSC Synergy projects participated actively in this workshop.
