NI4OS-Europe task leader for “Technical recommendations for HPC centres’ on-boarding”, Prof. Emanouil Atanassov, head of the HPC systems, networks and algorithms Department at IICT-BAS, received the Bulgarian Science award “Pythagoras” for his significant contribution in the category of “Supercomputing applications and Big Data analysis”. This is his second scientific award, following the “John Atanassoff” honorary diploma that he received in 2004 from the President of Bulgaria for his contribution in the field of information technology.
“Pythagoras awards ceremony took place on May 24, on the holiday of education and culture in Bulgaria, broadcasted on the Bulgarian National Television (BNT1). For the 12th consecutive time, the Ministry of Education and Science of Bulgaria presented awards to scientists, research teams and organizations for their achievements in the field of science and technology, determined by an authoritative jury composed of previous winners of the award. Guests of the ceremony were Ms. Maria Gabriel, EU Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, and Mr. Krassimir Valchev, Minister of Education and Science in Bulgaria.
