National NI4OS-Europe End-User training in Croatia was held on 28 April 2021 as part of annual SRCE DEI 2021 conference and gathered 50 participants.
Webinar was named “E-infrastructure in research data lifecycle” and targeted primarily researchers but also other employees from research and higher education institutions that provide support for researchers, e.g. librarians and IT experts.
The webinar gave participants an overview of the SRCE’s services that will be included in the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) service catalog during the NI4OS-Europe project. Participant could see how they can manage their data during the life cycle of research data, from preparation and data processing to storage and long-term preservation.
The first part of the workshop presented the SRCE services for preparing and processing research data: the Isabella computer cluster, which enables efficient execution of user applications that require a significant amount of computer resources – processors, graphics processors, RAM, fast storage and network – and HTC Cloud service, which provides advanced computing resources on which arbitrary software systems and applications can run easily and flexibly.
In the second part of the webinar services PUH and Digital Academic Archives and Repositories (DABAR) were presented, which are used for the exchange, storage, long-term preservation and dissemination of data sets in accordance with the FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) principles. In addition, webinar covered some elements of research data management, e.g. data versioning, open and closed formats, readme file, metadata description, anonymization and pseudonymization, and brief demonstration on how to store and publish a dataset in repository.
