A successful webinar was organised by the Athena Research Center and the University of Cyprus Library, both partners of NI4OS-Europe and OpenAIRE-Advance. The webinar entitled “Interoperability in EOSC: OpenAIRE Guidelines for repositories” took place on the 11th of June 2020.
Mr Antonis Lempesis and Mrs Stefania Martziou, Research Associates at “Athena” Research Center and members of the OpenAIRE technical team were the distinguished speakers of this webinar.
Introductory presentations
The webinar kicked off with an introduction by Elli Papadopoulou (ARC), a brief overview of NI4OS-Europe project by Sylvia Koukounidou (UCyLib)and presentation of the speakers by Natasa Ioannou (UCyLib).
Content
In this one-hour webinar, the participants were able to get all the necessary information regarding guidelines and the steps and procedures that need to be considered in order to have a fully compliant and interoperable repository to OpenAIRE and to the ecosystem of EOSC.
The speakers presented the guidelines and services of OpenAIRE for enhancing interoperability, the Validator service for assessing repositories’ interoperability and the Repository Dashboard: a web service for content providers. Mrs Martziou in her presentation provided a demo on the use of the tools.
Q&As
The presentation was followed by a Q&A session and the participants were able to ask questions and clarifications on the tools presented, about the registration procedure that needs to be followed. Metadata compliancy, enrichment and de-duplication issues were also discussed.
Participants who were mainly repository managers, showed great interest for the continuation of the discussion regarding EOSC and repositories interoperability and compatibility. After their approval, the organisers will prepare a new webinar regarding this & other relevant aspects of repositories inclusion to EOSC ecosystem.
